Tata Steel’s crude steel output up 21 percent in H1 FY 2013-14

Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has announced its sales results for the second quarter and the first half ended September 30 of the financial year 2013-14. The total domestic sales of Tata Steel in the second quarter increased by 18 percent to 2.04 million mt, compared to the same quarter of the previous financial year. During the first half of the current financial year, the company registered a 22 percent year-on-year growth in domestic sales, reaching 4.04 million mt.

Tata Steel's crude steel output for the first quarter amounted to 2.3 million mt, increasing by 19 percent year on year. The company's liquid pig iron output in the quarter in question was 2.46 million mt, up 19 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous financial year.

In the first six months, Tata Steel produced 4.5 million mt of crude steel, up 21 percent year on year, while the company's liquid pig iron output amounted to 4.93 million mt, rising by 20 percent year on year.

In the first half, Tata Steel's new bar mill and merchant bar mill produced 447,000 mt and 199,000 mt respectively, both achieving their highest half-year production.
