Turkish steelmaker Eregli Demir ve Celik Fabrikalari TAS (Erdemir) has stated that US-based Tata Steel International Ltd has filed a lawsuit against Erdemir at the US District Court in southern Texas for $4.8 million.

Tata Steel International, previously known as Corus International Trading Ltd., had filed a lawsuit against Erdemir back in 2010 at the US District Court in Illinois regarding the contract between Erdemir and Tata Steel for supply of certain products signed in 2008. Although Erdemir fulfilled all of its obligations under the contract in 2009, Tata Steel sued the company alleging that Erdemir should pay the damages requested by the third party buyers.

Erdemir stated that the American law firm representing Erdemir in the first lawsuit has been notified of the lawsuit petition. Erdemir has assigned this American law firm to represent the company at court again.
