Tajikistan sees sharp rise in coal output in H1

In the January-June period of this year, coal mining output in Tajikistan almost doubled as compared with the same period in 2013, according to the country's Ministry of Industry and New technologies (MoINT).

Over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan produced more than 300,000 mt of coal, 130,000 mt more than in the same period last year.

18 coal-producing enterprises now operate at 14 coal deposits in Tajikistan. In 2013, they produced 518,000 mt of coal, which was 25 percent more than in 2012. Coal sales increased from 424,000 mt in 2012 to 482,000 mt in 2013. 

Fon-Yaghnob Mine is Tajikistan's largest coal-producing enterprise.  In January-May this year, it produced 121,600 mt of coal.
