Shanxi-based Chinese stainless steel producer Taiyuan Steel announced on May 25 that it has succeeded in developing and mass-producing 429 series stainless steel for use in automotive exhaust manifolds.
429 series stainless steel belongs to the category of ultra-low carbon and nitrogen ferritic stainless steel, featuring good oxidation resistance, high-temperature strength and thermal fatigue resistance. It is expected that in future there will be greater demand for such products to take the place of nickel stainless steel which at present is generally used for exhaust manifold applications.
