Taiwan's iron and steel export value down 8.4 percent in May

In May this year, the value of Taiwan's iron and steel exports decreased by 8.4 percent year on year and was up 4.47 percent compared to April to $1.4 billion, according to the preliminary statistics issued by Taiwan's Ministry of Finance. In the given month, the country's iron and steel import value totaled $769 million, down 17.7 percent year on year and decreasing by five percent month on month.
 
In the first five months of the current year, the value of Taiwan's iron and steel exports was down 9.7 percent to $6.82 billion, while the value of the country's imports of iron and steel totaled $4.2 billion, decreasing by 9.4 percent, both on year-on year basis.
