Taiwan’s steel export value down 7.2 percent in May

According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, in May this year Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel amounted to $1.6 billion, decreasing by 7.2 percent compared to the same month of 2011.

In the first five months of this year, Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel decreased by 3.2 percent from the same period last year, amounting to $8 billion. Meanwhile, in the first five months of 2012 Taiwan's import value for the products in question decreased by 15.1 percent compared to the same period of last year to $5.4 billion.
