Taiwan’s steel export value down 5.7 percent in Jan-Apr

According to the statistics released by the Taiwanese Ministry of Finance, in April this year Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel amounted to $1.45 billion, decreasing by 8.2 percent compared to the same month of 2012 and down 9.3 percent month on month. In April, Taiwan's import value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel was $1 billion, falling 8.5 percent compared to April 2012.

In the first four months of this year, Taiwan's export value of iron and steel and articles made from iron and steel decreased by 5.7 percent from the same period last year, amounting to $5.8 billion. Meanwhile, in the first four months of 2013 Taiwan's import value for the products in question decreased by 2.6 percent compared to the same period of last year to $4.1 billion.
