Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that in May this year its carbon steel sales volume amounted to 779,677 metric tons, down 4.1 percent compared to April, accounting for 63 percent of domestic sales. In the first five months of the current year, the company sold 4.1 million mt of carbon steel, accounting for 65 percent of domestic sales.
In May, CSC's operating revenues amounted to NTD 29.19 billion ($978 million), down one percent month on month. In the first five months, the operating revenues of the company totaled NTD 147.28 billion ($4.93 billion). In May, the company registered earnings before tax of NTD 2.1 billion ($70.36 million), decreasing by 27 percent compared to April.
