Taiwan's industrial production index in January this year climbed by 19.2 percent as compared to January 2012, after rising by a revised 2.05 percent year on year in December 2012, and was up 3.56 percent month on month, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). In January, Taiwan's monthly industrial output increased for the seventh straight month on year-on-year basis.
In January this year, industrial output in basic metal manufacturing increased by 19.4 percent and output of metal product manufacturing surged by 34.75 percent, both compared with January 2012. The respective month-on-month change rates were registered at a fall of 0.1 percent and a rise of 5.7 percent.
Meanwhile, in January, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry rose by 6.5 percent, output in the automotive industry increased by 31.4 percent, while production in the Taiwanese construction sector increased by 11.7 percent, all compared to January 2012.
