Taishan Steel's 1,700 mm CR project commences production

1,700 mm wide cold rolled sheet steel project of Taishan Steel, which has been constructed by MCC ShiJiu Construction Co. Ltd., came on stream on August 1, 2007.

The project includes a push-pull pickling set, a full hydrogen bell-type annealing furnace, a 1,700 mm four-roller flattening set, a 1,580 mm straightening machine, a degreasing set, two 1,700 mm six-roller cold rolling sets and three shearing lines.

Total investment of the project is RMB 1.2 billion ($159 million). The project has the capacity of production 600,000 metric tons of cold rolled coils per annum with 0.2 mm-2.0 mm thickness and 800 mm-1,550 mm width.

Shandong province-based Taishan Steel Group, founded in 1970, is a large scale state-owned enterprise. It has three million metric tons of annual steel output capacity. Main products include HR, CR, pickled steel coil, slab, pig iron, and welded pipe. The mill exports its products to twenty countries and regions such as the USA, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Central and South America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
