Taihang Steel to relocate production facilities

Shanghai-based China MCC20 Group (MCC 20) has inked a strategic agreement with Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Taihang Iron & Steel Co.(Taihang Steel) regarding the relocation of the latter’s 6 million mt capacity steel production facilities, as announced by China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC).

The overall project in question, which will be divided into two phases, will start in 2015 and be completed in 2018. The relocation will include coking, sintering, iron-making, steelmaking, hot rolling, cold rolling and some other auxiliary facilities. The government in Hebei Province plans to relocate steel production plants away from urban areas to coastal and harbor areas and area with resource advantages.
