Swedish basic metal output up slightly in Nov over Oct

In Sweden, seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 1.3 percent in November last year compared to October, and was down 4.3 percent year on year in working day-adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB).

In November 2012, Swedish basic metal output increased by 0.4 percent month on month and was down 13.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In the month in question, the country's manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment output, rose by 6.8 percent compared to the previous month, down 5.9 percent on year-on-year basis.

On the other hand, in November last year new orders for basic metals in Sweden increased 3.6 percent compared to the previous month of the year, while new basic metal orders fell by 12.7 percent from the November 2011 level, mainly driven by the 14.1 percent decrease in export orders. Meanwhile, new orders for the Swedish fabricated metal products industry, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 2.7 percent compared to the previous month and were down 9.2 percent year on year.
