Sumitomo Metals’ Thai subsidiary resumes operation

Japan-based steelmaker Sumitomo Metal Industries (Sumitomo Metals) has announced that its consolidated subsidiary Thailand-based Thai Sumilox Company (Thai Sumilox) has completed restoration work on its pressing line and resumed operation on Friday, March 23.
 
In addition, the company expects to relaunch its slitting line by the end of March. Operations were suspended at Thai Sumilox on October 8, 2011 due to an evacuation order as a result of floods in Thailand.
 
Thai Sumilox located in Rojana Industrial Park in Ayutthaya Province processes and sells electromagnetic steel sheets used for electric motors.
