In his monthly report November 15, CEO of the Port of Houston Authority, Alec Dreyer, said that steel tonnage was up 49 percent over last year at the Port in October and is up 60 percent year-to-date over 2010. Container activity was little changed in October.

Dreyer said 4 to 4.1 million tons were projected for the end of 2011, and steel remains a "bright spot" at the Port of Houston.
