Spain’s motor vehicle output down 18% in Jan-Oct

In the first 10 months of this year, Spain's total motor vehicle output amounted to 1,675,378 units, falling by 18 percent year on year, according to the data reported by the Spanish Automobile and Truck Manufacturers' Association (ANFAC).

In the given period, the Spanish passenger car segment recorded a decline of 18.2 percent year on year in output. In the industrial vehicle segment in the first 10 months, a year-on-year decrease of 20.9 percent was recorded in output. Meanwhile, Spanish exports of motor vehicles in the first 10 months of this year fell 20 percent year on year to 1,459,046 units.

The association said that the Spanish automotive industry is in a period of industrial revival but there are still elements of competitiveness to improve. Hence, the Spanish industry is diversifying its production with new export destinations like Turkey, Austria and North Africa.
