In the January-April period of this year, Spain's total motor vehicle output amounted to 719,204 units, falling by 16.46 percent year on year, according to the data reported by the Spanish Automobile and Truck Manufacturers' Association (ANFAC).
In the given period, the Spanish passenger car segment recorded a decline of 17.2 percent year on year in output, totaling 557,594 units. In the industrial vehicle segment in the first four months, a significant year-on-year decrease of 19.1 percent was recorded in output, totaling 140,297 units.
The association said that low demand in the Spanish motor vehicle market, together with the contraction in demand in the main export destinations such as France and Italy, slowed down the rate of production of Spanish factories.
Spanish exports of motor vehicles in the first four months of this year fell 20 percent year on year to 610,795 units, affected by the reduced demand in Europe. In the January‐April period, 85 percent of the vehicles made in Spain were sold in other countries. The ANFAC forecasts a strong contraction in the coming months in Italy and France and a moderate reduction in the German market, concerning vehicle imports from Spain.
