According to the data provided by the Spanish steel producers' association Unesid, Spain's crude steel output in October amounted to 1.4 million mt, remaining at the same levels as compared to September and June, before the drops registered in summer months. The monthly output level in October is also equivalent to the monthly average volume in the past 12 months. However, as compared to October 2009, Spain's crude steel output regressed by 12 percent in October this year. Unesid said that, at the end of 1009, the production figures were relatively higher, due to inventory replenishments, after the weak start of the year.

Meanwhile, in the first ten months of 2010 Spain's crude steel production totaled 14 million metric tons, remaining 400,000 mt below the total production of 2009. Unesid noted that the in terms of steel production, 2010 will end with a clear improvement over last year.
