South Korea’s steel imports up in 2005

South Korea's steel imports rose 6.4 percent year on year in 2005 as Chinese steel products rushed into domestic market. South Korea Iron & Steel Association disclosed that the country's steel imports are expected to amount around 18.9 million tons in 2005. South Korea's steel imports from China reached 6.3 million tons in the first eleven months of 2005 compared to 4.3 million tons in all of 2004. Imports from Japan amounted to 7.1 million tons during January-November 2005 period, compared to 9 million tons in 2004.
