According to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA), in January this year South Korea's total car output surged 65.3 percent year on year, reaching 312,904 units, while the month-on-month decrease rate was 15.58 percent.

Despite the depression of auto demand in the major markets, South Korea's car exports in January rose by 47.2 percent to 181,005 vehicles, boosted by the rebound in the Asia-Pacific region (especially China, Australia and Vietnam) and Latin America (in particular Brazil and Chile). However, the country's car exports in January declined by 19.7 percent, as compared to December 2009.
