South Korea posts increased car output in July

In July this year South Korea's total car output surged by 21.7 percent year on year due to growth in exports, totaling 377,585 units, according to a report released by the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA). Meanwhile, in the first seven months of 2010, South Korea's car production rose 34.6 percent year on year to 2,477,142 units.
 
Thanks to the recovery of consumer confidence and the impact of the release of new car models, domestic sales in July this year moved up one percent year on year totaling 120,518 units. South Korean domestic orders in the January-July period of 2010 rose 12.5 percent year on year amounting to 831,194 vehicles.
 
South Korean car exports in July went up by 40.8 percent year on year to 255,360 units, attributed to recovering demand in the US and in emerging markets. In the first seven months of this year, exports surged 42.3 percent year on year, reaching 1,594,132 units.
