Recently, South Korean steel producers Hyundai Steel and Dongkuk Steel proposed to the Korea Trade Committee that it should levy antidumping (AD) duty on H-beam imports from China, claiming that the price of H-beam imports from this source is equivalent to 80 percent of the price in the Chinese market.

The Korea Trade Committee has already accepted the application and will launch the investigation. The final decision will be made at the beginning of next year.

H-beam imports from China currently account for a 22 percent share of the South Korean domestic market, with a total value reaching $2 billion.
