South Africa’s base metal export value down 3.5 percent in Jan-Sept

According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in September of the current year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 10.06 billion ($702.46 million), up 2.7 percent from August. In the first nine months of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof decreased by 3.5 percent year on year to ZAR 94.45 billion ($6.6 billion). 
 
In September this year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 4.82 billion ($336.58 million), rising 4.1 percent from August, while in the first nine months South African imports of base metals and articles thereof increased by 22.6 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 44.96 billion ($3.14 billion).
