According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in July of the current year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 12.54 billion ($942 million), increasing by 17.3 percent from June. In the first seven months of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof decreased by 3.3 percent year on year to ZAR 69.35 billion ($5.21 billion).
In July this year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 5.32 billion ($399.6 million), up 6.2 percent from June, while in the first seven months South African imports of base metals and articles thereof increased by 25.7 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 35.48 billion ($2.66 billion).
