South Africa starts safeguard duty probe on cold rolled steel imports

The International Trade Administration of South Africa has announced that it has initiated a safeguard duty investigation against cold rolled steel imports upon the request of the South African Iron and Steel Institute (SAISI) on behalf of ArcelorMittal South Africa, the major domestic producer of cold rolled steel products.
 
The investigation covers the period between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2015.
 
The products subject to the safeguard duty investigation currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7209.15, 7209.16, 7209.17, 7209.18, 7225.50 and 7226.92.
