Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group has announced that it will supply a new twin-stand compact cold mill (CCM) for Pakistan-based steel producer International Steels Limited (ISL).

SMS stated that the Pakistani cold strip producer, located in Karachi, has been operating a reversing cold mill from SMS Group since 2011 and in 2015 the mill was extended into a twin-stand compact cold mill. The new compact cold mill will be installed in a new building adjacent to the existing one. The current annual cold strip capacity of 450,000 mt will be increased to 900,000 mt in total. The new plant is scheduled to start production in summer 2018.
