Mexican longs steelmaker Simec said its Apizaco mill, located in the city of same name in the state of Tlaxcala, is operating on a limited basis due to a decision by the country’s environmental prosecutor Profepa, which shut down part of the mill’s activities due to environmental irregularities.

According to Simec, other operations were not affected by the decision. The company’s rolling mill at the facility is 100 percent operational, and other units in Guadalajara, Mexicali, San Luis Potosí, the US and Brazil are also operating normally. Customer orders are also unaffected, according to Simec.

Simec said it expects Profepa to lift the partial halt on the Apizaco mill by this week.
