Siemens VAI to supply equipment for hot strip mill expansion in India

Austria-based plantmaker Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced that it has received an order from India's largest auto grade steel manufacturer Bhushan Steel Ltd for the expansion of its existing hot strip mill in Meramandali, supplying the electrical and automation equipment.

With the new equipment to be supplied in 2012, Bhushan Steel will add thinner strips to its range of products, as well as increasing its output. The rolling mill will produce hot strip in a thickness range of 1.2-25.4 mm and up to a width of 1,680 mm. The production capacity of the plant will increase from 4 million mt to 5.5 million mt per year.
