Giant Austrian-based plantmaker Siemens VAI Mining and Metals Technologies has announced the receipt of a $5 million order from Spanish steelmaker Celsa Atlantic for the supply of a second compactor and coil handling extension. The delivery is expected to be completed in Q1 2009.

The coil handling extension includes a combination vertical and horizontal system and a second compactor, and provides increased on-line coil storage as well as an increase in surge capacity. The greater cooling times will allow Celsa Atlantic to produce higher quality products, such as thermomechanically-treated ribbed rebar for concrete reinforcement, at its plant in La Coruña, Spain.

Celsa Atlantic is a company of Celsa Group, which is ranked tenth in the world among long steel product producers.
