German-based Siemens Metals Technologies (Siemens) - one of the world's leading engineering and plant-building companies - has announced that it has received an order for the supply of three two-strand slab casters to the new iron and steel works project of Hyundai Steel Company - i.e. Dangjin Works.

The three casters, with a combined annual casting capacity of 8.4 million metric tons of slabs of 225-250 mm in thickness and 800-2,200 mm in width, will start production in late 2009. The steel grades produced will include ultra-low-carbon and high-carbon steels as well as micro-alloyed steels.

The slabs produced at Dangjin Works will be later rolled into coils and plates.
