Siemens to supply mini-mill to Euro Finance

Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced the receipt of a three-digit million euro order for the supply of a new mini-mill to Ukrainian scrap processor Euro Finance for its new steel production facility in Byelaya Tservov.

The scope of the supply deal includes a 120 mt capacity electric arc furnace (EAF), a twin-station 120 mt ladle furnace, an eight strand billet caster, a wire rod and rebar mill and also an alloying system, dedusting system, cranes and other mobile equipment, laboratories, and related electrical and automation systems. 

The new mini-mill will have an annual production capacity of 1.8 million mt of crude steel and will be able to annually produce 800,000 mt of finished steel products, including rounds with diameters of 10 to 40 mm, rebars with diameters of 8 to 40 mm and square bars with diameters of 10 to 40 mm.

The new mill is expected to begin production operations in mid-2010.
