Austria-based giant engineering and plantmaking company Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has announced the receipt of an order from the Hungarian steel producer ISD Dunaferr Zrt., for the installation of another hot coil handling system at its hot rolling mill.

The new coil handling system No. 2, designed to serve as a quick and efficient conveyor from the downcoiler to the coil storage and to the new picking line, is to replace an existing line at ISD Dunaferr, and will be able to transport coils with weights of up to 35 mt.

The order, which is worth a two-digit million euro figure, will allow Dunaferr to increase the capacity of its hot rolling mill from 1.8 to 3 million mt per year. The new hot coil handling system is planned to go into operation in September 2009.

Within the scope of the contract, Siemens will be responsible for commissioning supervision and training of the operating personnel.

Siemens VAI recently erected at ISD Dunaferr the hot coil handling system No. 1, a reversing cold-rolling mill and a pickling line.
