Shuicheng Steel breaks ground on wire rod project

Southwest China's Shuicheng Iron and Steel Group on July 15, 2005, began construction of a new high-speed wire rod mill in the Liupanshui region of Guizhou province. The RMB 300 million ($36.25 million) plant, scheduled to become operational by the end of 2006, will be able to produce 5.5-20mm round bar and 16-20mm deformed bar at speeds of up to 105 m per second. The plant's rated capacity will be 600'000 tons per annum. Shuicheng mainly produces long products, and the new mill is part of the company's overall goal to greatly increase its long products rolling capacity.
