Shapiro Metals is opening its 11th scrap recycling location in a 20,000-square-foot facility in Decatur, Alabama. It will be its second facility in the state.

According to a press release, the additional facility was spurred by a need from manufacturers in the region to be serviced by a local industrial scrap processor. Additionally, the new location will better service regional mills. The new facility in Decatur will recycle metals from the aerospace, trailer, automotive, and medical industries. The site will include a baler, roll-off equipment, and other ferrous and nonferrous scrap processing tools. The site will not provide retail services.

Shapiro was founded in 1904. Today, it operates 10 scrap metal recycling centers in the US: St Louis and Springfield, MO, Dickson, TN, Fitzgerald, GA, McAllen, Denton and El Paso TX, Green Bay, WI, Mobile, AL and Wichita, Kansas.
