Shagang releases unchanged longs prices for mid-January

On January 11, Jiangsu Province-based steelmaker Shagang issued mid-January prices for its long products, making no change from early January levels. The details are as follows:

1. Rebar prices have remained the same as early January levels. Thus, the price of 14-25 mm diameter HRB 335 is still at RMB 4,600/mt ($632/mt).

2. High speed wire rod prices have also remained constant. As a result, the price of 6.5 mm Q235 is still at RMB 4,600/mt ($632/mt).

The above prices include 17 percent VAT and are effective from January 11 to January 20, 2008.

Also on January 11, Shagang announced a retroactive, preferential price discount for its agents of RMB 100/mt ($14/mt) for early January shipments.
