Severstal's crude steel output down one percent in Q2 from Q1 level

Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced its operational results for the second quarter of the current year. Accordingly, Severstal's crude steel output decreased by one percent to 2.83 million mt in the second quarter compared to the first quarter of this year.

In the second quarter of the current year, Severstal's Russian Steel division’s steel product sales increased by nine percent quarter on quarter to 2.75 million mt. During the second quarter, the mining division of the company, Severstal Resources, saw its iron ore concentrate sales volume rise by 54 percent to 1.24 million mt, reflecting seasonal dynamics and planned production increase, while its iron ore pellet sales rose by 12 percent and totaled 2.88 million mt, both on quarter-on-quarter basis.

As regards consolidated sales (net of intercompany sales), Severstal stated that in the second quarter its coal sales decreased by eight percent to 436,545 mt, its iron ore sales increased by 27 percent to 1.7 million mt, and its rolled steel product sales went up by 10 percent to 2.19 million mt, all compared to the previous quarter.
