Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that it will supply about 140,000 mt of large diameter (LD) pipes for Russian gas monopoly Gazprom’s major gas transmission projects Power of Siberia and Ukhta-Torzhok-2. The pipes are to be manufactured by Izhora Pipe Mill (IPM), a part of Severstal’s Russian Steel division.

Accordingly, IPM will produce 14.2 meter diameter pipes produced from plates with inner and outer anti-corrosion coating. The pipes will be supplied to the mentioned projects by the end of this year.

Severstal stated that IPM managed to operate its facilities at full capacity utilization throughout 2015. This year the plant targets to maintain high levels of utilization rates due to participation in major gas transmission projects despite the complicated economic situation in Russia and globally.
