Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that it will build a metal coating complex at its Cherepovets Steel Mill. The coating complex will include a hot dip galvanizing line with a capacity of 400,000 mt per year and a color coating line with an annual capacity of 200,000 mt.

The supplier of the equipment is Belgian company CMI Industry. The contract value for the project is RUB 6 billion.

"We consider this project as priority one from both strategic and economic standpoints. The project will enable us to increase the production of high value-added products, and, when the lines are launched, Severstal will be able to increase its market share in the Russian domestic coated steel market," said Sergey Toropov, general manager of Severstal Russian Steel.
