Severstal sees higher steel output in 2014

Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced its operational results for the fourth quarter and the full year of 2014. Accordingly, Severstal's crude steel production in the fourth quarter increased by one percent to 2.892 million mt, while its hot metal production went up by two percent to 2.32 million mt, both quarter on quarter.

In 2014, Severstal registered a six percent year-on-year growth in crude steel production to 11.302 million mt, while the company's hot metal production increased by four percent to 9.076 million mt compared to 2013.

In 2014, Severstal’s Russian Steel division's steel product sales remained stable year on year at 10.593 million mt. In the given year, the iron ore sales volume of Severstal Resources also remained unchanged year on year, at 15.05 million mt.

As regards consolidated sales (net of intercompany sales), Severstal stated that in 2014 its coal sales decreased by 47 percent to 3.35 million mt, its iron ore sales declined by three percent to 6.04 million mt, and its rolled steel product sales moved down by three percent to 8.137 million mt, all compared to the previous year.
