Severstal responds to sale speculation

OAO Severstal released an announcement Wednesday regarding widespread media speculation that it plans to sell its North American operations.

The statement said: “Remaining fully committed to maximizing value creation for its shareholders, OAO Severstal announces that it is considering a range of strategic options in relation to Severstal North America. Severstal confirms that no decision has yet been taken as to which, if any, such option might be pursued.”
