The Russian steel producer Severstal has announced that in 2007 its Cherepovets facility mastered the production of 18 new types of steel products.
In particular, during the year in question, the plant's flat rolling workshop No. 2 started commercial production of HRC from low-carbon, low-alloy grades of steel with nonstandard mechanical qualifications for pipe producer Vyksa Steel. In addition, Severstal mastered steel production for the needs of the pipe and construction sectors, increasing the thickness of sheets up to 16 mm in compliance with orders from pipe producing and machine building companies in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and other non-CIS states.
Furthermore, in 2007 Severstal Cherepovets started to produce steel of stainless grades under the order received from Vyksa Steel and also HRC for the construction industry for export deliveries, in particular to Spain and Germany.
For its Izhora pipe producing facility, Severstal Cherepovets mastered the production of strips for pipeline with pressure of up to 14 MPa and eight point levels of seismicity for pipes to be used in the construction of West Siberian-Pacific Ocean Pipeline and also for the land section of the Nord Stream pipeline. In addition, the production of strip category DNV 450 IFD thickness for the underwater part of the Bovanenkovo-Ukhta pipeline has also been introduced.
For the automobile industry, Severstal Cherepovets mastered three new types of products. In particular, the plant started production of high strength cold rolled sheet and also of HR P&O sheets for European producers of automobiles.
Furthermore, in 2007 Severstal Cherepovets started the delivery of two new types of round steel for Severstal-Metiz. The end-user of this product is ABTOVAZ. In addition, the plant started supplies of angles to Galichskiy Avtokran Plant.
