Severstal launches new slag refining capacities at Cherepovets

Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that Cherepovets Steel Mill, a part of its Russian Steel division, has completed the load testing of the new crushing and screening plant (DSU) for processing steelmaking slag, the company stated

The decision to build the plant was made on the basis of the company's plans to improve business efficiency and to reduce the burden on the environment. The new DSU will be the sixth plant processing the industrial waste.

The planned volume of slag processed at the facility will reach up to 2.1 million mt per year. The cost of the construction project for DSU-6 was more than RUB 340 million ($9.7 million).
