Severstal issues 2007 production results

The Russian steel producer Severstal has issued its production results for 2007. The figures include the data of all Russia-based and overseas facilities of Severstal

According to the company release, in 2007 Severstal produced 17.46 million metric tons of crude steel - up 11 percent, 2.351 million metric tons of coking coal concentrate - down 10 percent, 230,428 metric tons of coking coal - down 64 percent, 4.305 million metric tons of iron ore - up 16 percent (including a 12 percent increase in iron ore pellet production to 4.16 million metric tons), all compared to 2006.

In addition, during the given period, Severstal saw a 20 percent increase in its semi-finished steel products output to 1.82 million metric tons and a two percent rise in finished steel products output to 13.254 million metric tons. Moreover, in 2007 the company produced 5.9 million metric tons of hot rolled strips and plates - down one percent, 1.9 million metric tons of cold rolled sheets - down 11 percent, 1.47 million metric tons of galvanized and other metallic coated sheet - up nine percent, 229,518 metric tons of color coated sheet - up 55 percent, and 3.43 million metric tons of long products - down 11 percent, all compared to 2006.
