Severstal increases steel product shipments to automakers

Russian steelmaker Severstal, one of the world's leading steel and steel-related mining companies, has announced that in 2013 it plans to increase sales of rolled steel products to the auto industry to 591,000 mt, up from 585,000 mt delivered in 2012.

According to the company statement, around 193,000 mt of rolled steel products will be shipped to foreign auto makers in 2013.

Severstal's rolled steel will be delivered to the Russian enterprises of Renault-Nissan, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, as well as to General Motors in Uzbekistan. Also, the material will be supplied to traditional consumers, such as AvtoVAZ, GAS, KAMAZ and UAZ.

During the first nine months of 2013, the company produced 11.9 million mt of steel, while its sales volume of steel products was unchanged compared to the same period of last year at 11.3 million mt.
