Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced that its Cherepovets Steel Mill has achieved the designed capacity of its second color-coating line, which has an annual production capacity of 200,000 mt of coated hot dip rolled products.
As a result, Cherepovets Steel Mill may produce at least 400,000 mt of coated hot dip rolled products in total in 2012.
According to Severstal's statement, the second line reached its designed capacity within four months, three months ahead of schedule. The line officially commissioned in December with a total investment of over RUB 2.5 billion ($78.1 million) produced its first colored roll in late November 2011. In 2011, the first color-coating line produced 221,225 tons of steel, exceeding its designed output capacity.
