Sangang Group to build continuous caster No. 3

Beris Engineering and Research Co., a subsidiary of Chinese state-owned enterprise China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC), has announced that it has inked an agreement for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a new continuous caster No. 3 for Fujian Province-based Chinese steelmaker Fujian Sangang (Group) Co. (formerly Sansteel MinGuang Co.).
 
The construction work on the new continuous caster will be divided into two phases. After phase one is completed, the caster will be able to produce 160 mm x 160 mm billet. With the completion of phase two, the caster will be able to produce large billet, i.e., mostly 200 mm x 200 mm and 300 mm x 400 mm. The planned annual output capacity of phase one is 1.2 million mt.
