German steelmaker Salzgitter AG disclosed that the company's 2005 profit more than tripled due to the higher demand for metal.
Net income rose from Euro 246.7 million a year ago to Euro 842 million in 2005.
Separately, Salzgitter on March 10 said it plans to increase steel prices for contracts less than a year about Euro 20 on average for flat steel, heavy
plate and long products.
