Germany-based steelmaker Salzgitter Group has announced its preliminary financial results for 2015.
In 2015, Salzgitter generated a pre-tax profit of €12 million, compared to a net loss of €15.2 million in the previous year. Its external sales settled at €8.6 billion, down 4.4 percent from the previous year.
According to Salzgitter, the pre-tax profit comprises a positive contribution of €21 million anticipated from German copper producer Aurubis, as well as, on balance, a burden on earnings of €74 million from the relining of a blast furnace in the Salzgitter steelworks and from accounting-related effects.
