Salzgitter announces price increases for Q4

Germany's second-largest steelmaker Salzgitter AG has announced that it has hiked its prices for flats, sections, wide flange beams and heavy plates throughout its various units.

According to its new price list, Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH's flats prices will increase by €30/mt for the fourth quarter.

Peiner Träger GmbH had already increased base prices for sectional steel and broad flange beams as of August 1, 2008 in the various categories by between €40/mt and €50/mt.

Meanwhile, Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH's heavy plate prices will be increased by €120/mt, raising base prices to a minimum level of €950/mt.

The company stated that additional price hikes are to be anticipated in 2009 depending on further cost developments.
