In April this year, sales of domestic stainless steel cold rolled sheet (CRS) in South Korea slightly declined on year-on-year basis, although production increased during the month in question, according to Korea Metal Journal.
According to the statistics from the Stainless Steel Club of the Korea Iron and Steel Association (KOSA), production of domestic stainless cold rolled steel sheets in South Korean edged up 0.8 percent to 107,408 metric tons in April compared with a year ago.
However, sales of domestic stainless cold rolled sheets slid 1.1 percent to 104,010 metric tons in the same comparison. In the domestic market, sales to distributors declined 14.7 percent from a year ago in April, together with a year-on-year fall of 11.2 percent to 25,451 mt in sales to end-users. However, exports surged 27 percent from a year ago to 41,038 metric tons, lowering the decrease pace of overall monthly sales. In April, most local producers of stainless cold rolled sheets suffered a slump in sales at home but overcame it by enlarging their overseas shipments.
