SAIL’s domestic sales rise 32 percent in December

On January 2, Indian steelmaker Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) announced that it achieved sales of 1.3 million metric tons in the domestic market in December last year, registering a growth of 32 percent year on year and a rise of 23 percent during the third quarter of the current Indian fiscal year compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. Sales of SAIL's thermomechanically treated (TMT) products increased by 33 percent in the third quarter of FY 2009-10 over Q3 FY 2008-09, while plates registered a rise of 36 percent year on year in the same period.

In December 2009, SAIL also registered all-time record sales of 116,000 metric tons through its dealer distribution network.
